The Henhouse Studio

The Henhouse Studio is a musician-focused recording space in the heart of East Nashville, built around capturing great performances in a relaxed, creative environment. It is the home base of producer and engineer Steve Dawson, and has been the setting for a wide range of records since his move from Vancouver in 2013.

The studio is designed to feel comfortable and inspiring rather than clinical. It’s a place where artists can focus on playing, listening, and making great music without distraction.

The studio is equipped with a highly curated collection of instruments, microphones, vintage and modern recording equipment, centered around an API 1608 automated analog console.

A Place to Make Records

Projects at The Henhouse range from full album productions to focused single-song sessions. The approach is flexible and collaborative, adapting to the needs of each artist rather than forcing a predetermined workflow.

Whether working with a full band or tracking one instrument at a time, the emphasis is always on tone, feel, and inspired performances.
