The Henhouse Studio Rates

OPTION 1 - Day Rate with no engineer:
$350/day (based on an 8 hour day including setup/tear-down. Extra hours billed at $40/hr)
This option is for the studio only - if you were going to provide your own engineer. You get the rooms and the recording equipment. Engineers that have not worked here before are welcome, but we will need to discuss that first. This is also good for photo shoots or live performance videos where NO audio recording is needed.

OPTION 2 - Day Rate with our in-house engineer:
$550/day
(based on 8 hour day including setup/tear-down. Extra hours billed at $60/hr)
This option is for when you want to come in and record yourself or your band. Our excellent in-house engineer will set up and record you and your group and you can get as much done in the day as you are able to. This is also good for live video shoots where audio recording is needed.

OPTION 3 - Day Rate with Steve Dawson (the owner) engineering (most common option):
$650/day (based on 8 hour day including setup/tear-down. Extra hours billed at $80/hr)
This option is if you want Steve to engineer the session. No one knows the room and the equipment like Steve, and he has engineered and mixed over 100 albums at this point, so you’re paying a bit extra for experience here.

The Henhouse offers local Nashville producers and engineers some unique and affordable opportunities for those that are short on space or work within volume restraints in small spaces. Some of these include:

  • Record real drums in our main room and bump your production up a notch or two

  • Record using our Kawai upright piano, A-100 organ (same as a B-3) and Leslie, or our Wurlitzer electric piano. Samples are pretty great these days, but still don’t get you all the way there like the real stuff does!

  • Run your stems through our API console for a final mix - get some analog juice on the tracks

  • Bring your project recorded elsewhere here to mix using our outboard gear and console

  • Re-amp some tracks that are a little sterile sounding through some of our vintage amps

The Henhouse Studio is also available as Steve Dawson’s production studio on projects he is hired to produce and mix. Get info on those services and rates here.
